Comment: Ive been shopping at Publix since I was a kid. They have great produce, good meat selection, everything you could want. I love the deli and the bakery, too (Tuscan garlic bread! Blueberry pie!). Price comparisons with other grocery stores are always good. Friendly, helpful employees, too. And you have to love the BOGO deals. New sale items on Thursdays. Very good website, informative, helpful, easy to use. Their shopping list application is the best Ive seen, interactive with their weekly ad.I must say that I do not like their move to self checkout though. 2/10/24 update: It looks like more checkouts are open. 👍

Comment: Publix is usually helpful, but not this one. I bought a salad and tried to get a fork from the utensil dispenser. The forks were stuck and would not dispense. I asked the lady serving hot food. She told me to wait and finished the customer in front of her. Another came up and she took care of him. I went to pay and when I got to the car, I told my daughter that the lady wasnt pleasant and did not stop to get me a fork. She said she asked for a spoon since the dispenser was out and the lady told her that she could go get a spoon from the soup area. She said none were there. Shopping was definitely not a pleasure here at Britton Plaza Publix. Get it together and replenish.

Comment: Publix is our store. Of course, in South Tampa, you have little secondary choices to shop at. The prices seem to have gotten quite higher than weve been used to, and honestly, for a company that is debt free and profits in the multi-Billions of dollars yearly, they could offer better pricing for their shoppers, especially in these times where most companies are over charging and using excuses to raise prices on all of us. Publix could do much better in this area. They are pretty much the best in customer service, and that counts for something. My only concern, other than the high prices, is that the produce at the Britton Plaza location has gone way downhill. They are leaving moldy berries, bruised degraded cherries, wilted and browned salads, and slimey grapes on the shelves. Not just once in a while, but often. There is a process called grading produce that should be performed before store opens and also throughout the day whereby workers or managers go thru the entire dept checking for inferior quality fruits and vegetables, out of date items, etc. This is clearly not happening at the Britton Plaza store. This store used to be one of the best for quality as well as service. I hope they will work on their produce dept and get the quality back on the shelves like it used to be. I recently went to the Walmart on Gandy Blvd in South Tampa for an item that Publix doesnt sell, windshield wiper blades, which I would never expect Publix to sell, but I have to say that passing by Walmarts produce dept, it looked very inviting and fresh and the prices where much better as well as the quality of their produce. Publix has added self check out lanes, but thankfully, they still have multiple registers open with cashiers and baggers. I hope that never changes because people want face to face customer service, not ringing up and bagging their own items, especially for the high prices that they are charging. As a debt free, multi-Billion dollar corporation, I believe, in my opinion, that Publix can do better. They are an awesome company with a great mission statement that unfortunately doesnt resonate like it used to. Maybe thats partly to blame on the corporate offices because they are not instilling the traditional values to their associates (employees) like they did many years ago. They used to pay every associate that worked the required amount of hours, additional benefits like quarterly bonuses, giving shares of Publix stock (which I believe they still do provide stock but theyve limited the bonus structure over the years that used to include part time associates all the way up to managers, etc.) I only mention the bonuses because that was always an incentive to perform jobs better, ensure product quality remained constant, and customer service that used to be much better. Associates would share in the success of the company, which created pride in work and a desire to assist customers to the highest of standards.Publixs Mission Statement reads as follows:Our mission at Publix is to be the premier quality food retailer in the world. To that end, we commit to be passionately focused on customer value, intolerant of waste, dedicated to the dignity, value, and employment security of our associates, devoted to the highest standards of stewardship for our stockholders, and involved as responsible citizens in our communities. These used to mean something, and its hard to know if they are instilling these values in their associates anymore, based on observations over the years of shopping at their stores. But please dont blame the overworked, short-handed store workers who are trying their best with what they have to work with. The responsibility and accountability should be placed on their corporate leadership that drives the vehicle. In my opinion, I feel like some of the leaders have forgotten the core values, and they need to find their way back and take great care of the personnel in the stores so they feel like valued owners again. Take care of the managers who will then take care of their people, etc. Thank you

Comment: This particular Publix usually stays clean and the employees during the day seem pretty cordial and can be helpful even if you simply appear puzzled about the location of a product, because they’re paying attention specifically to help customers, they will politely extend a helping hand. I’ve never shopped there during evening hours but I do recommend grocery shopping there if you don’t mind the slightly higher prices than most competitors.

Comment: I have always come to this grocery store through the years it has only change a couple times but when I moved here it was an Albertsons which was comforting because they had those where we moved from. Publix is great to have near by. On top of basic grocery shopping, I use the pharmacy and get the best fresh subs at the deli. The customer service had always been helpful when it was needed. The only constructive criticism I have for Publix would be to take the leap and bring back free samples of the great Publix brand dishes.

Asking the Deli Manager a few questions regarding the difference in prosciuttos and pairing with wine.Next thing I know is Im waking up in the middle stall floor of the bathroom, side bandage up and missing a kidney. The employees are friendly and helpful. My reasons for the four star review are price and store layout. Publix prices are far above what they should be for a company with their buying power. With inflation hitting so hard, every penny counts. The store layout is very inconsistent between locations. It causes me to bother an employee too often. Regardless, Publix is so much better than Walmart in every aspect, but prices.

The selection and quality of food is top-notch and their prices are a good deal (especially when they have bogo!). Im also so glad they ripped up those ridiculous directional floor stickers and ditched the completely useless, theatrical mask requirement.

Comment: Publix staff is always helpful and friendly. They go the extra mile. Try even finding an employee at Walmart, much less one who would check in the back, or escort you to an aisle. I shop the BOGOs and specials to stock up on items I keep on hand. Many employees stay at their jobs for years, and that speaks volumes. Pharmacy is also amazing. It’s always nice to be greeted by name knowing they have hundreds of customers. Thanks always for a clean, organized, friendly place for this cook to shop.

Comment: I must come here at least 3 times a week between shopping for the family I nanny for, picking up prescriptions, and getting groceries for my own family. The people are always kind, friendly, and always helpful. The little 2 year old I nanny for has type 1 diabetes and sometimes is having a rough day but we must still get the groceries and there is always someone who goes out of their way to stop stocking shelves, bagging groceries, or checking us out to get him a little balloon or a sticker. Those are the little things that keep me coming back. Everyone knows us there and says hi and is patient with us on our not so good days. Thank you for always going the extra mile and always having the kindest people working your store. It is greatly appreciated and it doesnt go unnoticed 😊👏👏👌

Comment: I wish every store was run by the Publix model. Clean, well supplied, beautifullt displayed products and the best customer service I experience every time I visit. I tallied the savings on the free medications I receive each year and it was over $150.00. Thats $ in my pocket! I am handicapped and the electric carts are always clean & charged. These are not small things when compared to other stores...it speaks to good management and well trained employees. Publix does make shopping a pleasure.

Comment: Seems like everyone truly loves their job and will go out of thier way to help you from going in for one item to grabbing a shopping cart because that one item became one too many. The employees happiness even spreads to their customers because they are even willing to help because they are happy to be there. One thing about Publix I am questionable about their happiness is when they are waiting in a long line to checkout, which happens when you go to a store with this much love. Long lines just give me a reason to peer at their end caps and see a BOGO item I forgot ;) and get out of line to get it. Now that is indoubtably a good reason to not mind being in line...unless you have Häagen-Daz Ive cream which you got at their BOGO special. But wait...their is a solution. Just dont buy it yet and wait till your finally ready to be checked out and act upset you forgot your ice cream and the service bagger will happily skip to get your ice cream. Just make sure you have enough items in your cart to warrant such a demand and MAKE SURE YOU ASK THE FAVOR RIGHT BEFORE THEY SCAN YOUR FIRST ITEM!!! All other frozen items can manage till you get home. Publixly loved since moving here in 2001.

Comment: This is a great Publix. Its very clean, always well stocked & friendly employees. The only downside to this Publix is that there are often sketchy men in the parking lot ( I think because there is a very large bus stop here.) Ive had several experiences where I was slightly afraid going to or from my car because of someone acting crazy in the parking lot. Not a great feeling for a woman going into the supermarket either alone or with her kids. But other than that, this is a good Publix.

Comment: By far the best Publix in south Tampa. Right when you walk in it feels happy and employees seem happy and willing to help. The supervisors here are so much better than the old store! General manager is always smiling and she is friendly and when I special ordered an item The other supervisor was super nice. I still do wish they had an eat in cafe but only if its not raining its nice to sit outside at tables. Only problem is when it rains, I get wet instead of awning covering me. Just love the store and they always have what I want and seem happy to be at work. Thanks for redoing it.
